The Indian youngster Virat kohli was named ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year 2012 in Colombo. He played 31 ODIs and compiled 1,733 runs at an average of 66.65, including eight centuries and six half-centuries. His highest score, 183, came against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on 18 March 2012.

The West Indies youngsters Sunil Narine was named Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2012 in Colombo. The off-spinner played in three Tests for the West Indies claiming 12 wickets at an average 31.50, while in the 15 ODIs he played in he claimed 28 wickets at an average of 18.82.
Richard Levi: The South African batsman won the ICC Twenty20 International Performance of the Year in recognition of his 51-ball 117 not out against New Zealand.
- Kumar Sangakkara: Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara grabbed three prestigious awards at the LG ICC Awards ceremony in Colombo. Sanga was named the ICC Cricketer of the Year, ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and the LG People's Choice Award for the second year in a row.
During the performance period, he played 14 Tests and in 27 innings, he compiled 1,444 runs at an average of 60.16, including five centuries and five half-centuries.
"I'm continuing to ensure I am consistent and I need to keep raising the bar each year and keep trying harder and harder to ensure I keep playing good Test cricket. It's a constant battle but I have the support of a great team that helps me to do the best I can. "I think I have tried to keep things as simple as possible and it's worked for me on the field. This year has been a learning curve along the way from the seniors in the team. It's been an all-round effort and I'm very happy to have won this award. The New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award 2012. Vettori beat off competition from South Africa's AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis as well as Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan and West Indies' Kieron Pollard.
Kumar Dharmasena: The Sri Lankan won the David Shepherd Trophy for first time after being named ICC Umpire of the Year. Dharmasena, who made his international debut as an umpire in 2009, joined the Emirates Elite Panel in May 2011. "This is one of the best awards I could have got as an individual as I only joined the Elite Panel a year ago, it's a really honour," Kumar said.
Sarah Taylor: England's Sarah Taylor was named ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year. The 23-year-old took the accolade ahead of West Indies Stafanie Taylor and Australia's Alyssa Healy and Lisa Sthalekar.
West Indies Stafanie Taylor was named the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year. The young Jamaican took the accolade ahead of fellow West Indies team-mate Anisa Mohammed, England's Lydia Greenway and Sarah Taylor.
