The Kochi police’s probe into Wednesday’s gunfire from an Italian oil tanker in the Indian waters off the Kerala coast in which two fishermen were killed fell into a crisis on Friday evening with the Italian authorities going back on their promise to cooperate with the police’s investigations.
With this, the Kochi police’s plan to arrest the shipmen responsible for the killing of the fishermen on the charge of murder as per the Indian Penal Code, question the crew of Italian oil tanker Enrica Lexie and to inspect the ship suffered a “temporary setback”.
